Constitutional Council Rejects President’s Nominee for Auditor General Post in Sri Lanka
The Constitutional Council today rejected the nominee put forward by the President for the post of Auditor General, with a majority voting against the recommendation.
The position has remained vacant for 42 days following the retirement of the former Auditor General. According to reports, the President had proposed H.T.P. Chandana—currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Petroleum Corporation—for the role. However, consensus on this recommendation could not be reached during the Council’s meeting held yesterday. As a result, the Constitutional Council reconvened today to reconsider the proposal.
