Sri Lanka police appeal public to avoid visiting Buddha relic as long lines leads to one death

The police appeal came a day after a person died of heart failure after being admitted to hospital following several days in the queue in Kandy, about 120 kms northeast of Colombo.

Colombo: Police on Thursday appealed to devotees to refrain from travelling to a revered pilgrim place to witness the rare exposition of the tooth relic of the Buddha in central Sri Lanka.

The police appeal came a day after a person died of heart failure after being admitted to hospital following several days in the queue in Kandy, about 120 kms northeast of Colombo.
